The next Film In the WORFS Summer Season is: Going Through The Change
Friday – 3rd July at the Hive
Commissioned by WAPC and made by Anne-Marie Sweeney, this film tells not just the story of the women during the strike but how the fight has continued, how the links with other communities and especially women has broadened and how the struggle for socialism and feminism are intertwined.
Guest speakers are Brenda Proctor (Chair, National Women Against Pit Closures and North Staffs Miners Wives Action Group), Rose Hunter (WAPC) and the film’s director Anne-Marie Sweeney . They will discuss the development of the role of women in this momentous strike and how “Where women’s liberation failed to move, this strike has mobilised.”
This screening is presented in partnership with Woo Feminista – a small group of women committed to providing local events which promote a women’s agenda towards equality for all. You can contact us, or be added to our mailing list, on: woofeministas@gmail.com
