Sorry We Missed You – Ken Loach 2019

Wed 26 Feb, 2020 – 7.15pm (Doors open 6.45)

Hoping that self-employment through gig economy can solve their financial woes, a hard-up UK delivery driver and his wife struggling to raise a family end up rapped in the vicious circle of this modern-day form of labour exploitation.

Ricky and his family have been fighting an uphill struggle against dept since the 2008 financial crash. An opportunity to wrestle back some independence appears with a shiny new van and the chance to run a franchise as a self-employed delivery driver. It’s hard work, and his wife’s job as a carer is no easier. The family unit is strong but when both are pulled in different directions everything comes to breaking point.

  1. What a thought provoking, sobering film which left the whole audience quietly stunned by the exploitation in our society. As I had already watched the BBC Amazon programme I was aware of the profit above all else. Wow. I felt compassion for the whole ‘trapped’ family. This should be compulsory viewing.

Please pass on our thanks to all who made this viewing available.

Worcester received a relevant and pertinent film. Here’s to the next screening.
